Next stop in my journey to visit Fukuoka’s Anime & Figure stores – Hakata Station. You’re very likely to stop by here during your travels at Fukuoka, so between the stores within Hakata Station, the neighboring Hakata Bus Terminal building, and a couple more stores less than a block away, let’s get to some of the options you’ll find around here. How Good are the Anime/Figure Shops at Hakata Station Actually?

1 – 🟡 Pokémon Center Fukuoka 🟡

As the only Pokémon Center in Kyushu, Pokémon Center Fukuoka is the place to visit if you’re a Pokémon fan.

There’s a whole lot of variety here, with items like their Moncollé figures, candy toys, stationeries, phone cases, stickers, household items, and all the different plushies they have.

Like seriously, the amount of different plushie lines they have here is really impressive – From the different starters, to trainers from Pokémon Masters EX, to some weird and wacky ones like their seasonal ‘Dowasure’ Amnesia and long-armed Hug You! lines.

If you’re gonna grab one, I highly recommend you check out their Pokémon Fit line of plushies – featuring every single Pokémon and Pokémon Forme from Gen 1 all the way to Gen 6.

So if you’re a fan of an obscure Pokémon and want some merch, this line has got you covered! It’s not everyday you get merch for Pokémon like Muk, Drowzee, Sewaddle, and every single Unown and Vivillon out there.

And like with a lot of other official shops in Japan, new products are added frequently, so there’s always something new to check out here every time you visit Japan.

You can find this Pokemon Center at Floor 8 of JR Hakata City, the mall right above Hakata Station.

2 – 📸 Yodobashi Camera Hakata 📸

Located right around Hakata Station’s East 5 Exit, Yodobashi Hakata is the place to go if you’re looking for the most recent releases of games and larger-brand figures.

As a more general electronics store, you can also find a lot of toy lines geared towards younger children like Barbie, Fortnite, and LEGO.

You won’t be seeing any older / rarer figures here, but as a general toy shop, it’s definitely worth a browse around. The store has a super catchy theme song, too!

3 – ⭕️ Ichiban Kuji Official Store (Hakata Bus Terminal) ⭕️

You can also find an Ichiban Kuji Shop at Hakata Bus Terminal (7th Floor.) Like the shop at Canal City, this is the place to head to for Ichiban Kuji banners released in the past couple of months.

I’d say this shop has a slightly larger selection of banners to choose from, but availability will vary day by day, of course.

If you’re planning to do some Ichiban Kuji, don’t forget to compare the two shops first before you start your pulls – in case one has significantly better odds.

4 – ⭕️ Gamers Hakata ⭕️

For comics, character goods, and CDs around Hakata, you can find Gamers at Hakata Bus Terminal’s 7th Floor.

5 – 👾 Namco Arcade (Hakata Bus Terminal) 👾

Also on the 7th Floor is Namco Arcade – featuring an assortment of prize figures, plushies, and photobooths. It’s quite similar to the Banprestore Arcade over at Canal City, so check both of them out when you visit the area.

6 – 📖 BOOK OFF Fukuoka Hakataguchi Store 📖

Book Off is a chain of first/second-hand shops featuring books, comics, and (for the purpose of this review,) figures, trading cards, and other collectibles.

Compared to the Book Off at Tenjin, this shop isn’t as big, but it does feature a bit of everything – from prize figures, cards, game consoles, and even some Kuji banners.

7 – ⭕️ Surugaya Hakata ⭕️

Right next to Hakata Station at Marui Hakata (6th Floor) is Surugaya, another first/second-hand goods store.

The selection here is really vast, and if I had to recommend just one store around the Hakata side, it would be this one.

And while you’re there, don’t forget to check out their ‘Junk Figures’ area. These usually feature smaller items like pins, rubber charms, and lower-tier Kuji prizes – neatly organized by series (and by characters.)

⭐VERDICT⭐
So how good are the Anime/Figure shops around Hakata Station actually? Well, if you’re a Pokémon fan, the Pokémon Center alone instantly makes this place a must-visit. Other than that, between the official shops like Ichiban Kuji and Namco Arcade, to second-hand shops like Book OFF and Surugaya, Hakata Station (while not featuring as many shops as the other areas in Fukuoka) has a decent selection of some great stores to choose from.
So if you’re around Hakata Station (which you probably will be,) or are a Pokémon fan, definitely have a look around the anime/figure shops at Hakata Station
