Our final Anime/Figure shop area in Fukuoka – Tenjin Station. Compared to the other areas we’ve visited, Tenjin’s selections are by far the most varied – from second-hand shops and official stores, to even a couple of arcades. But what exactly can you expect to find around the area? and is it worth the visit? How Good are the Anime/Figure Shops at Tenjin Station Actually?

🚆 Tenjin Station 🚆

__________

👾 Arcades Zone 👾

If you wanna play some prize machines in Fukuoka, here’s three of ‘em next to each other right by Tenjin Station. On average, you can get these figures for equal or slightly cheaper prices if you buy them at places like Mandarake and Surugaya (unless you’re really good at it.) But if you ask me, the fun and experience of playing on these machines easily justifies the slightly higher cost – so try for at least one during your visits.

And if you’re having some trouble winning your figures, you can always ask the staff for some assistance. (Just tell them that you’d like an ‘assist.’)

__________

1 – 👾 Taito Station Fukuoka Tenjin 👾

Taito Station – my favorite out of the three arcades here.

Once you enter the shop, you’ll be treated to floors upon floors of different prize machines – neatly organized by series.

At the lower floors, it’ll be mostly plushies, snacks, and smaller prizes.

And as you head upstairs, the focus will shift to prize figures and other merch from various game and anime franchises.

You’ll also find unboxed versions of some prize figures on display, so you can always preview what they look like before spending your ¥100.

Taito Station also has a floor dedicated to arcade games, from Racing and Rhythm games, to flighting games like Tekken 7  and Street Fighter 6. And from what I’ve seen, Taito Station is the only place where I can consistently find Guilty Gear -Strive-, so you’ll find me playing a couple of rounds every time I visit one.

__________

2 – 👾 GiGO Fukuoka Tenjin 👾

Moving on, here’s GiGO Fukuoka Tenjin.

The core concept is the same, of course – prize machines featuring figures, plushies, and other merch.

Head up a few floors, and you’ll be greeted with a selection of photo booths and arcade game cabinets.

You can also find GiGO’s collaboration cafe and Bushiroad Creative Store here, featuring collaboration goods from different anime/game series.

New collabs are announced relatively frequently, so check out which ones are available when you head to Japan.

__________

3 – 👾 Round1 Fukuoka Tenjin 👾

And rounding out the trio is Round1 (no pun intended).

Again, you can find prize machines here, but Round1 is also home to a bunch of other entertainment zones, including karaoke, bowling alleys, darts, and billiards. So if you wanna grab some figures and have a bit of extra fun, this is probably the arcade to go for.

__________

🏢 Mina Tenjin 🏢

Mina Tenjin is about a couple of minutes walk away from Tenjin Station’s Exit 5. And for figure / anime shops, head straight up to Floor 7.

__________

4 – 📖 BOOK OFF Super Bazaar 📖

The largest of Book Off’s chain stores, Book Off Super Bazaar – like the one at Hakata – features a whole range of first/second hand figures, merch, and cards – divided up between sections of the store. And if you don’t mind boxless second-hand figures, you can find a selection of that for some pretty nice discounts.

__________

5 – 👾 GiGO Mina Tenjin 👾

Right next to Book Off, you’ll find GiGO – this one mostly focusing on prize figures and plushies. Obviously it isn’t as big as the standalone GiGO nearby, but if you’re looking for something that’s not available at the main shop, here’s another alternative for you.

__________

🏢 Fukuoka PARCO 🏢

You can find Fukuoka PARCO right by Tenjin station’s Exit 5. And for anime / figure shops, you’ll find those at around floors 7 and 8.

__________

6 – ⭕️ Animate Fukuoka PARCO ⭕️

Animate is the place to go to if you wanna grab some merchandise of your favorite anime/manga series.

It’s mostly just merch and smaller collectibles (alongside comics and CDs,) but since it’s an official store, you can find a lot of collaboration and exclusive items here.

They even sell lines of fragrances from series like Spy x Family, Demon Slayer, and Genshin Impact… interesting.

__________

7 – ⭕️ One Piece Mugiwara Store ⭕️

If you wanna stop by a One-Piece shop, then the Mugiwara Store is the place to visit.

Like with the other Official Stores, it’s not very figure-heavy, but you can find a ton of One Piece merch here – from smaller collectibles like can badges, stickers, and keychains, to a pretty sizable collection of apparel like shirts, slippers, and bags.

Can I just say… those A3 Wanted posters look really nice!

__________

🏢 AEON Shoppers Fukuoka 🏢

Right next to Fukuoka PARCO, AEON Shoppers is also home to a couple of figure stores.

__________

9 – ⭕️ VOLKS Fukuoka Showroom ⭕️

Volks is a Plastic Model Kits specialty store, and you’ll find quite the assortment of kits here, as well as the tools needed to customize said kits.

Other figure lines are also available (Figurines, Miniatures, Scale Figures, etc.), so even if you’re not a fan of model kits, it’s worth at least a visit.

__________

10 – ⭕️ Toy Collector ⭕️

Right next to Volks is Toy Collector – a smaller shop that features some older collectibles.

The little drawings around here and there really adds a “local shop” feel to the store.

__________

🏢 Nearby Tenjin Station 🏢

Here are some other stores you can find around Tenjin – both under 5 minutes of walking from the station.

__________

11 – ⭕️ Mandarake Fukuoka ⭕️

One of my favorite stores to visit anytime I’m in Japan – Mandarake.

As one of the larger first/second hand shops in Japan, you can expect a pretty sizable selection of prize figures, games, CDs, and manga – as well as some really rare retro figures of Ultraman and Godzilla costing all the way up to ¥100,000.

This shop’s fairly large compared to some of the others I’ve visited, with toys, comics, and games on the 1st Floor, and cosplay items, dolls, and  idol goods over on the 2nd Floor.

If you’re planning on visiting Mandarake, I highly recommend you check out their online database to see what’s in stock. Browsing online isn’t a substitute for the real thing, of course, so don’t forget to have a look around the store as well. Who knows, maybe you’ll find something interesting that wasn’t listed on the site. (And that’s speaking from personal experience.)

__________

12 – ⭕️ C-Labo & Lashinbang Fukuoka Tenjin ⭕️

And to round things off, here’s two stores right next to each other – C-Labo and Lashinbang.

C-Labo is a card shop lined wall to wall with singles and sets from lines like Pokemon, Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Weiss Schwarz. I’m not very knowledgeable when it comes to the card collecting, so I have no idea what to say here, but I suppose the store is pretty nice – given the amount of stuff they have

And for Lashinbang, it’s another first/second hand figure and books store.

Pretty good selection of stuff, and there’s also some bargain bins in front if you wanna find some items for cheap.

⭐VERDICT⭐

So how good are the Anime/Figure shops around Tenjin Station actually? Well, if you’re looking around for some arcades, Tenjin has it all covered with 3 of ’em right next to each other. Other than that, you can also find most of Fukuoka’s second-hand shops on this side of the city (Mandarake, Book OFF, Lashinbang, etc) alongside a couple of official stores for a nice balanced selection.

So if you’re around the Tenjin side of Fukuoka and want to check out some anime/figure shops around the area, the give these stores a go.
