I’ve been a big fan of Granblue Fantasy Versus for a couple of years now, and once I found out that there was a Granblue Fantasy themed café in Tokyo, you bet I made sure to stop by and check it out.
Modeled after the Grandcypher, Grandcypher Kitchen has been serving up food and drinks to hungry skyfarers since 2021, and serves as a place where GBF fans can hang out and spend the day.
Definitely sounds fun, but I want to know for myself if the experience was as great as they claim. So after a visit to the shop during my day at Akihabara, what are my thoughts on the place? Let’s get to it. How Good is Grandcypher Kitchen Actually?

📋 Table Reservation 📋
Grandcypher Kitchen operates in 90-minute timeslots, so you’ll need to choose a session and make reservations before you head to the shop. There’s also a table charge of ¥1,200 for each person – which will give you access to the Grandcypher Kitchen, your choice of a Gran / Djeeta drink coaster, and a drink off their drinks menu (excluding dessert drinks.)
Check available dates & reserve your table here:
https://www.tablecheck.com/en/shops/grandcypher-kitchen/reserve
__________
🏣 At Grandcypher Kitchen 🏣
Grandcypher Kitchen is located on the 2nd Floor of Pasela Resorts Akiba. Once you arrive at the 2nd floor, head over to the reception desk and show the staff your reservation (Maybe mention Grandcyper Kitchen too, since the other cafés also share the same reception desk.) Once confirmed, you’ll be given a Gran / Djeeta coaster of your choice (details in the “Goodies” section,) a store guidebook in English, and a tablet to make your orders.
__________
🏣 Interior 🏣
Grandcypher Kitchen is a themed cafe, and as the name suggests, the interior of the store is modeled after the dining room aboard the Grandcypher – complete with wood-like doors, walls, and tables.
Scattered around the store, you’ll also find mock windows with a view of the open sky, as well as some weapons on display from Rackam, Eugen, and Zooey.
The interior design here is very nice, and really gives off that “I’m a skyfarer” feel to it.
There are a few different table arrangements, but where you sit will likely be based on how many people you’re dining with, as well as how full the café is when you visit. For 3 or 4 people, you’ll be seated at a diner-style table – somewhere you can expect Lowain and his bros to be chilling aboard the Grandcypher.
I’m with my brother today, so for two people, I’m seated at a different 4-seat table, featuring a wooden divider splitting sides into 2 seats each. It does a good job of blocking the other customers, but the table size can be a minor hassle if you plan on ordering a lot of food.
As for photo opportunities? You’re free to wander around and grab as many photos as you like, as long as you don’t actually touch the weapons. And if you want some shots with no one around, wait until the end of your timeslot once everyone has already paid and left.
At the table, you’ll be presented with a tablet to order your meal, and a limited edition placemat featuring some artwork of the current Seasonal Menu. I’ll go over the placemat more in the “Goodies” section, but for my quick advice? Keep it somewhere while you’re eating. It’s a really nice souvenir, and you really don’t wanna mess it up before we laminate it later.

📋 Menu & Seasonal Menu 📋
Grandcypher Kitchen features both a standard, permanent menu and a limited-time seasonal menu, and for today’s visit, their Seasonal Dishes features items like Seox’s Omurice, Lunalu’s Handsome Gorilla Pink Lemonade, Izmir’s spicy Arrabiata Pasta, and Jamil’s Sakura Mochi.
Each of these dishes features a little nod to the character, so have a look and enjoy all the references!
Their Seasonal Menu rotates every couple of months, so there’s always something new to try out.
Moving over to their regular menu. It’s a decently-sized menu, with a wide variety of items and featured characters. I’ll list out some of them, but don’t forget to check out the rest for their little references!
Their Main Courses feature dishes both character and item-inspired dishes, like the Grandcypher Tea Set, Lowain’s Fried Platter, Charlotta’s Adult Hamburg Steak, and Gold Brick Curry Rice.
The drinks menu is split into two sections, regular drinks (1 included in the table charge) and dessert drinks. Some of the available drinks here include Cagliostro’s Alchemy Drink, Ferry’s Ghostly Soda, and Irestill’s Muscat Tea – with dessert drinks from Narmaya, Clarisse, and Yuel.
The dessert section features items like Sandalphon’s Cafe Millennia Tiramisu, Jamil’s Raduga Pancakes, and a character art birthday cake (requires advance reservation.) Not nearly as many items as the others, but the Seasonal Menu will feature several more desserts to choose from.

☕ Character Latte (¥770) ☕
A staple at themed cafes. A cup of hot coffee with chantilly cream, topped with a printed graphic featuring a GBF character. It’s essentially a real-life gacha pull, with a cup of coffee as an added bonus.
Definitely grab it if you wanna have a bit of fun, although with eight page’s worth of characters (with regular new additions), the chances of getting the exact character you want can be kinda slim. Try it out and let me know. I’d be impressed if you get lucky!

📋 Ordering your Dishes 📋
The entire menu is in Japanese, so viewing the menu and ordering can be quite tricky. Fortunately, they do provide you with an instruction sheet on how to navigate the different menus.
Works well in the areas it applies, but for menu details, that’s where Google Translate comes in handy.
To order, click on the item you want, select the quantity and any other options, then hit the orange “注文送信” button (plus the “はい” button) to confirm your order.
If you want to call staff, grab extra plates, or some water, you can navigate to the “呼び出し” tab. (next to the Free Wi-Fi button) Select how many of each you need, and hit the orange “数量を決定”button to submit the order.

☕ Grandcypher Tea Set (¥2,530) ☕
Starting off with the Grandcypher Tea set, with its wide assortment of snacks representing the crew aboard the Grandcypher. There’s a lot to go through, so let’s break it up into the different plates.
The top plate features sweets such as Lyria’s Tart Cupcake, Io’s Lemon Jelly, Rosetta’s Rose Macaroons, and Rackam’s Cinnamon & Chocolate Cookies.
🧁 Lyria’s Tart Cupcake 🧁
Pretty good overall. The filling wasn’t as rich as I’d like, but the whipped cream topping balanced it out nicely.
🍹 Io’s Lemon Jelly 🍹
Big fan of this one. The lemon was very strong, and will definitely wake you up after a shot of this. I don’t remember eating the sugar topping, though you could probably have it with the cookies.
🍪Rosetta’s Rose Macaroons 🍪
It’s a sweeter-tasting macaroon, highlighted by the floral notes of the rose. Quite nice.
🍪Rackam’s Cinnamon & Chocolate Cookies 🍪
They’re essentially classic crispy cookies. Good cookies, but nothing special.
The bottom leans towards the savory side, with Katalina’s Egg Sandwich, Vryn’s Beef Consomme with a Vyrn Monaka wafer, and Eugen’s Smoked Salmon Canape.
🥪 Katalina’s Egg Sandwich 🥪
The egg sandwich was alright, but a bit plain, but you can’t have a Tea Set without some sort of sandwich. The sword pick looks amazing though!
🍲 Vryn’s Beef Consommé 🍲
The warmth of the consommé really stands out from the other items. Also comes with a Vyrn Monaka Wafer
🥪 Eugen’s Smoked Salmon Canape 🥪
2 pieces of crispy toast with some smoked salmon. Simple, but it works really well.
🦋 Gran/Djeeta’s Butterfly Pea Tea 🦋
Gran/Djeeta represents the “Tea” part of this Tea Set – served unsweetened and with a slice of lemon. And like Rosetta’s Macaroons, the tea has a really soft floral profile to it. You can have it as is, but if you haven’t tried it before, squeeze some lemon into the tea – and witness as it goes from deep blue to a purple.
My limited knowledge of the series has no idea if the color change means anything to Gran & Djeeta, so do let me know if it’s meant to be something. It’s probably not, but I’m sure my brother would love it if it was something Belial related.
__________
🍖 Lowain’s Fried Platter (3~4 people // ¥3,300) 🍖
For our other main course today, we decided to go with Lowain’s Platter for a bit of fun.
The dish is essentially an assortment of deep-fried items – some Karaage fried chicken, Onion Rings, and French Fries – each representing one of the bros. (I’ll let you figure out who best fits what.)
Served with a side of tomato sauce, a lemon wedge, and a Monaka wafer of Lowain, Elsam, and Tomoi.
Flavor-wise? It’s just a plate of fried food. A real good plate to share while you hang out at the cafe, but it’s nothing overly special.
__________
🍹 Cagliostro’s Alchemy Drink (¥880) 🍹
As a Cagliostro main in GBVS, of course I’d get something Cags related. Cagliostro’s Alchemy Drink features Blackcurrant Syrup, Orange Juice, Cola Popping Candy, and a Light Cube.
As the founder of Alchemy, it’s only fitting that her drink is inspired by her experiments – with each component in separate flasks, ready to be combined and turned into some (edible) potion.
The flavors are pretty good. It’s orange juice, with some added citrus syrup and an explosive mouthfeel with the popping candy. It’s my personal favorite dish – but are you really that surprised?
__________
🍷 Belial’s Cup of Cunning (¥770) 🍷
My brother’s GBVS main is Belial / Avatar Belial, so you know he jumped on this one the moment he saw it.
Belial’s drink is a soda with Kyoho Grape Syrup, Maraschino Cherry, a Chocolate Wing, and a Light Cube – presented in a fancy textured glass chalice.
The flavors were really nice on this one! The chocolate wings were down by the syrup, so it was kinda difficult to get out. But other than that, the drink does a fantastic job in referencing the Fallen Angel of Cunning.
__________
🎁 Goodies and Stamp Card 🎁
Themed cafes always feature a bunch of exclusive goodies, and Grandcypher Kitchen is no different.
__________
🎁 Gran & Djeeta Class Coaster 🎁
While not technically “free,” with each table reservation, you’ll receive a paper coaster featuring Gran or Djeeta in your Class outfit of choice. Out of the several coasters I’ve gotten at other cafes, the ones here are super high quality (paper, yes, but it’s like a whole millimeter thick!) Put your drink on it if you really want… But I’m treating this as a collector’s item!
🎁 Seasonal Placemat 🎁
At the table, you’ll also receive an A3 sized paper placemat featuring some artwork of the current Seasonal Menu. The art’s also really nice, and if you’re a fan of the featured character, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this a lot. As for me? I only know of Seox and Lunalu from GBVS, so 50%’s just alright.
🎁 Random Playing Cards 🎁
With every order, you’ll receive one of 52 plastic playing cards featuring the GBF cast – with a new deck each year. Which one you get is completely random, so have a look and see if you got one you like. My chances were pretty low in getting a character I know of from GBVS, but I got surprisingly lucky and pulled Zooey, Eugen, and Lunalu out of the five chances I had (Rosamia and Medusa were the others – if I got that right)
Grandcypher Kitchen is the place to meet up with other GBF players, so feel free to ask around for any trades. Maybe you’ll find someone with a duplicate or wants what you have. Or, you know, order more food and try your luck that way!
🎁 Stamp Card 🎁
At the cashier, you’ll receive a points card with your choice of either Gran, Djeeta, or Lyria at the cover.
At 20 points, you get a little pin badge. At 50, you get a Character Lithograph (Man, I want that Cagliostro one so bad. It’s so premium looking!) And at 5 fully completed cards (250 points), you get a real wood Grandcypher Barrel Mug (1 Liter.)
Considering you only get 1 point per dish, it’s a lot of work to get any of those items. But if you do get to that point (heh…) congrats! No idea how you’d ever reach 250 unless you live in Japan, though…
__________
🛍 Merch Store 🛍
When you’re ready to leave the cafe, head to the cashier outside and play for the meal. Once that’s done, make sure to stop by their merch store next to it.
You can find a decent assortment of GBF items here, from shirts, plushies, and acrylic stands, to other small collectibles like keychain blindboxes, notebooks, pin badges and clear files.
__________
🎁 Laminating your Placemats 🎁
It’s a completely optional step, but if you’d like to protect your placemat right at the store, there’s a lamination machine right around the entrance of the building.
You can buy a clear lamination sheet at the reception area for ¥200. Once that’s done, clear the placemat of any dust particles and place it between the two clear sheets. Turn on the machine and let it do its thing.
Considering how durable the thing is, ¥200 is a really good value. And unless you plan on framing it later, I highly recommend you laminate your placemats before you head out.
__________
⭐VERDICT⭐
So how good is Grandcypher Kitchen actually? If you’re a GBF fan, I think it’s pretty obvious that the place is straight up wonderful! Even coming from me – a GBVS-only player – the amount of detail they put into the shop really made me feel like I was aboard the Grandcypher, between the interior design to the entire menu, and I’m already left with a need to head back there again.
Switching to something more objective, how’s the food here? While the taste is probably the least important thing you think about when visiting Grandcypher Kitchen – I must say – the food was also (relatively) surprisingly nice! It’s nothing near something like a specialty restaurant, but as a fun place to hang out, I don’t have much to complain. The prices can be just a bit high, but for the novelty of it (and the numerous goodies you get,) it’s something I wouldn’t mind paying for again every once in a while.
So, if you’re a fan of the Granblue Fantasy series and happen to be around Tokyo, reserve your seats ASAP and head over to Grandcypher Kitchen!
